The USA has labelled both Canada and the EU as threats to their "National Security" in order to justify new duties declared by their military Commander-in-Chief on the international trade of steel and aluminum. A true Taxidermy cost comparison RSA vs USA

All of these discussions of "you'll save money" vs "taxidermy in US is better" led to me do my own cost comparison. These are actually quotes received.

There are going to be two hunters on my upcoming trip so I'll just call them Hunter #1 and Hunter #2.

Hunter #1:
4 animals - Kudu, impala and blesbuck (wall pedestals) and zebra wall art.
Taxidermy cost in the U.S. $7395 + Dip & Pack cost $729 + crating & fees $805 + freight $855 = $9,784
vs.
Taxidermy cost in RSA $5956 + crating & fees...

Africa...when will you be priced out??

I never thought that I would ever think this way, but my Safari days might me coming to a close. It's getting to the point where I can't afford it anymore.

Airfare has almost doubled in the last 5? years. The prices that outfitters are charging, outside of RSA and Namibia have skyrocketed.
For example, I shot a Leopard in Zambia 5 years ago for $20,000 total, and now the same PH is charging $40,000. And that's before baits, tips, govt fees, then dip and pack, shipping, customs broker, etc...

Impossible to find used heym double rifle

I jave been searching high and low for a used heym 88b. When I see them inads they are already sold. Called Champlin Arms and all the heyms they had advertised were already sold. So frustrating!

Sling or no sling

I have previously posted pictures of my new (to me) Dakota 76 African in .416 Rigby. I am taking this rifle to SA for my first Cape Buffalo hunt. I have read conflicting guidance on Sling or no Sling. The pro sling guys say that these rifles are heavy (mine is at 11 1/2 pounds) and after long foot stalks lugging this around without a sling I will be that much more tired from carrying it without a sling and the less winded I am when I shoot the better.
