375 Whelen Improved?

Is anyone familiar with the .375 Whelen Improved? I came across one and was wondering if it is worth bidding on.

As I understand it, the .375 Whelen is based upon the the .30-06 cartridge necked up to .375.

I must admit I have a thing for obscure calibers.

Smoothing out the action

So I got Lipsey’s Ruger in 9.3x62, the action feels like it needs to be smoothed out a little bit. Any suggestions on how to do? I was thinking of taking out the bolt and polishing with emory cloth and then doing the same to the rails and rest of action. Thx

Bringing trophies back as checked baggage

I'm heading to Eastern Cape in August. Three skulls from 2023 are still at the taxidermist in Port Elizabeth (not entirely their fault). I'm hoping to bring them back as checked baggage if doable. Anybody tried this? It's a gemsbuck, impala, and springbuck. The gemsbuck is a respectable bull, impala is borderline excellent, and springbuck is borderline acceptable. Your opinion why the 7x57 Mauser flourished and the .275 H&H faded.

In 1912 Holland & Holland envisioned a complementary pair of sporting rifles and introduced the .375 H&H and .275 H&H. We all know the story of the great .375 while the .275 faded. The 7x57 was introduced in 1892 as a military cartridge and has gone on to stardom. What is your opinion of why the .275 H&H did not find the success that the 7x57 Mauser has earned?
